Jim Treacher slams PolitiFact for standing by true ‘Lie of the Year’

The Weekly Standard’s Mark Hemingway earlier today called out PolitiFact on its “lie of the year,” Mitt Romney’s ad claiming that bailout recipient Jeep was considering moving production to China.

As Hemingway writes, “The ad … never said that Jeep was moving U.S. jobs to China, let alone its entire operations to China. All the ad says, and this is correct, is that the Obama administration played a hand in selling Chrysler to ‘Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China.’” PolitiFact responded to the Weekly Standard by arguing, “The Romney campaign was crafty with its word choice, so campaign aides could claim to be speaking the literal truth, but the ad left a false impression that all Jeep production was being moved to China.”

Yes, it’s still the Lie of the Year. News reports on Jeep don’t change the deception: bit.ly/SWUxdc

The Daily Caller’s Jim Treacher wasn’t buying PolitiFact’s explanation.

Yes, actually, they do. You are liars. MT @politifact Yes, it’s still the Lie of the Year. News reports on Jeep don’t change the deception

— Jim Treacher (@jtLOL) January 19, 2013

You need to understand this, @politifact: You are liars. And we know you are liars. Your PolitiFacts are not, in fact, facts. Nice try.

— Jim Treacher (@jtLOL) January 19, 2013

Hey, you know how @politifact say they’re “nonpartisan”? Yeah, that’s bullshit. Their whole operation is bullshit. And they know it.

— Jim Treacher (@jtLOL) January 19, 2013

True.

Dear @politifact: I have no sympathy. You made it your Lie of the YEAR. You made no attempt to shield yourselves from your own lie. Oh well.

— Jim Treacher (@jtLOL) January 19, 2013

Hi, @politifact. So, now that your entire organization has been exposed as a bunch of liars, what will you do next? Think carefully.

— Jim Treacher (@jtLOL) January 19, 2013

There are actual facts, and then there are @politifacts. Presumably you’re not a liberal, so you’ll never confuse the two.

— Jim Treacher (@jtLOL) January 19, 2013

.@politifact‘s whole deal is that they’re the arbiters of truth. And then their “Lie of the Year” is 100% true. That’s freaking hilarious!!!

— Jim Treacher (@jtLOL) January 19, 2013

No. No, it’s not. The least bit. You all need to start writing the Resume of the Year. MT @politifact Yes, it’s still the Lie of the Year.

— Jim Treacher (@jtLOL) January 19, 2013

Here’s the metric going forward: A @politifact has absolutely no real-world relation to an actual fact.

— Jim Treacher (@jtLOL) January 19, 2013

.@politifact is @politifuct.

— Jim Treacher (@jtLOL) January 19, 2013

Here’s the thing, @politifact: We all know you’re compromised. We don’t trust you. We know you’re bent. You’re @politifuct. But nice try.

— Jim Treacher (@jtLOL) January 19, 2013

No, @politifact, your lies are not the facts, no matter how you protest. You need to think of a way out of this. Quickly. That’s the way.
